Mileage Tracker Without GPS
Mileage Tracker is a manual mileage tracker for Android. Instead of following your location in the background, it lets you type in the drives that matter: distance or odometer readings, route, purpose and category. The app does not request location permission, no account is required, and your trip log stays on your device.
- No GPS tracking
- No account required
- Your trip log stays on your device

How a manual mileage tracker works
- Add a trip with the distance, or with odometer readings at the start and end of the drive.
- Note where you went from and to, the purpose of the drive, and an optional note.
- Sort the trip as Business, Personal, Medical or Charity.
- See monthly distance totals and an estimate based on the rate you set.
- Export PDF or CSV records for your accountant or bookkeeping (Pro).
No GPS and no location permission
Automatic mileage apps detect drives from your phone's location, which usually means granting location access that keeps working in the background. Mileage Tracker takes the opposite approach: nothing records your drives automatically, and the Android app does not ask for location permission. The distance in your log is the distance you enter, from your odometer or from a route you checked yourself.
No account required, trip log on your device
You do not need to sign up to start logging miles. Trips are saved on your phone, not in an online account, which is why the app works as a private mileage tracker. There is no cloud sync or cloud backup: if you want a copy of your records outside the phone, export them as PDF or CSV with Pro.
The free version shows ads, and Google Play handles in-app purchases. Ads, billing or app store services may process technical data where enabled. Details are in the privacy information.
Looking for an offline mileage tracker?
Because your trip log lives on the device rather than on a server account, logging a drive does not depend on signing in to an online service. Enter the trip when you park, and it is saved in your log.
Manual log vs automatic GPS tracking
| Mileage Tracker (manual) | Automatic GPS mileage apps | |
|---|---|---|
| How trips are recorded | You enter each trip | Drives detected from your location |
| Location permission | Not requested | Usually required, often in the background |
| Account | Not required | Often required to sync trips |
| Where the log is kept | On your device | Often synced to an online account |
| Best for | Drivers who want to control exactly what is logged | Drivers who want every drive detected without typing |
Is a manual mileage log right for you?
A manual log fits freelancers, consultants, independent contractors, sales reps and real estate professionals who drive for work a few times a day or a week and prefer not to share their location with an app. If you make dozens of short trips every day and never want to type anything, an automatic GPS app may suit you better.
Tips for an accurate manual mileage log
- Log each drive the same day, while the details are fresh.
- Use odometer readings at the start and end of work drives when you can.
- Write down the destination and the purpose, not just the distance.
- Keep one vehicle per trip so totals stay clean.
- Confirm tax rules with your accountant or official guidance. For US rates, see the IRS mileage calculator 2026.
